[Kehn nodded. “Heh, maybe one of us should keel over from our injuries so we can be rid of him,” he joked, but Rhienne squeezed his hand, now visibly upset.]

Rocore shot a glare at Kehn before turning back to Lin. “That won’t be necessary,” he assured her as he moved to get out of bed. “I’ll be back in a minute, I need a drink of something.”

Lin looked unconvinced, but she did not stop him when he moved to get a drink. Rhienne looked down at her hands in her lap, glad that the Chief would give them a small break while they recovered fully. “Rhys, why were the three of you caught so off guard?” Lin asked, now standing between both beds.

Rhienne sighed. “We were split up… Akio, Kehn, Rocore and I were fighting, but I slipped on an ice patch created by the bender. Akio ran after him, and Kehn helped me in the direction Rocore ran off. By the time we got there, Rocore was already being attacked by the blood bender…” She didn’t want to bring up the fact that she was too scared to move, and get help…

Rocore made his way down the hall and towards the cafeteria to find it was empty.. He set down at a table by himself and fiddled with his thumbs while thinking things over Why am I so Stupid! he cursed himself I could’ve kept everyone safe, but I didn’t

[Kehn smiled, his features tight. “Yeah well, I don’t blame him. Rhienne isn’t just any girl, after all.” He looked at Rhienne gently, his heart swelling with love. He wouldn’t let Rocore’s actions discourage him from fighting or her. Rhienne smiled back at him, her cheeks still pink. When she saw Rocore approaching behind Kehn, however, she grew more serious and joined the rest of the team in a straight line.]

Rocore walked past the team without making eye contact and made his way up the stairs and into the airship. He stopped and looked out to see his team still at attention. “Well? Are you all going or not?”

“Yes, sir!” Their voices joined together. They ran up the stairs and stood as the airship took off. Rhienne stood between Kai and Niles while Kehn stood with Shou. They arrived at the patrol location within the hour. Rhienne already knew she and Kehn would not be on the same team as her…

“I know, but still-…” He looked up as Rhienne started walking toward him.

Rhienne had just filed some paperwork when she saw Rocore standing near the reception desk. He must of just signed in… Rocore then moved slightly to his left, and Rhienne saw that he was not alone. He stood hand in hand with a beautiful young woman.

Rhienne couldn’t place her, and certainly would have remembered him mentioning her. Despite this, the way he stood at her side, almost protective, let her know she was important to him. “Good morning, Lieutenant.”

“Good morning, Rhys,” he nodded to her and squeezed Min’s hand. “I would like for you to meet, Min… I thought I would show her around the station.”

She smiled and held her hand out to the woman. “It’s nice to meet you, Min.”
